I assisted to a birth (medically speaking)
Saturday - Feb. 23, 2008

In all my five years of life, I’ve never lived a more exciting moment than when I helped Radek and Silver come to see the light on this world. Yeah, Radek and Silver… the names I chose.

It all happened a few days ago, it was February 17th, a Tuesday… and Jazz, Rebecca and I were driving back to our city. We got stuck in the traffic on the motorway, just a few minutes before Rebecca started screaming in pain for the contractions. Both Jazz and I got worried when she told us, but I thought it was just a false alarm, as it was clearly too early for her to deliver. That’s what my dad taught me, at least. But I was wrong. Rebecca’s contractions started to get closer and closer until she couldn’t stand it anymore. Scared that she may have a miscarriage, I took a look to her conditions: she was dilated already, 12 cm, and one of the babies’ head was almost out. Jazz and I (the taxi driver could only help by protecting our privacy) had to assist Rebecca while she was giving birth to her twins.

You may guess the way I was feeling in that right moment. Scared, I was panicking… I had never helped a woman to have birth, I am just a child with some medical knowledge thanks to his father’s teachings… but then, I was the only one there who could help her. Jazz couldn’t do it.

While Radek managed to come out in a few minutes, Silver was stuck in her umbilical cord, and I had a hard time trying to free her from the outside. But man! she did it! :D After thirty minutes she was born too, and I couldn’t help but cry out of joy, followed by Rebby and Jazz who were crying always, and for long time. We managed to free the taxi from the traffic when it slimmed a bit, and we ran as fast as we could to Robocity.

Silver and Radek are in incubators now. They were born at 35 weeks of pregnancy, and they have some troubles breathing, but overall they’re in full health.

On March 23rd (the date that was calculated to be Rebecca’s due date) Jazz and Rebecca will have a baby shower for their lovely twins. I’ve been invited too, and I will surely go :3 Having helped them makes me feel so much MORE as a part of the family! x3

I’m just so happy. *__* I have no words to describe this feeling, just… tears.
