Here are some tips to help you spice up your site! ^___^;;
Splash page
- Have a nice background
- Make sure the colours match your layout
- Have an interesting 'Enter' sign, not just a text link.
Layout
- Do make everything matching
- Do have good CSS
- Do make sure it works in all browsers
- Don't have flashing images and neon colours everywhere - you don't want to blind your visitors ;)
- Make sure it's not too big, or too small.
- Try and find out if it works in most resolutions.
CSS
- Do have nice CSS. It makes everything appear a lot friendlier.
- Use a clear, medium sized font, like 10pt Verdana.
- It's better to have a dark font on a light background.
- Make sure it's readable.
- Make your links etc appear interesting, with nice colours, and a nice hover effect, etc.
- Make sure your links appear different colours to the rest of the text!
Content
- Work hard on your content because it's the thing visitors go to first.
- Don't have a 'find the dot/exclamation mark/hidden word to enter the goodies' page because they are just stupid. They annoy visitors and I just leave straightaway if I see one.
- Make your 'Me' section interesting.
- Have lots of interesting, original games and reads.
- Have a lot of content to keep your visitors busy, but make sure it's all high-quality stuff!
